Our Story

My name is IMAM MOHMED YUSUF RAJI from Leicester (U.K.). Grateful Giving is a charity that was founded by myself in March 2023 specifically to assist disadvantaged orphans in severe need with their schooling, food, uniform, and comfortable living space.

In November 2022, I visited India for a personal visit. During my travels, while looking for a place to pray salaah, I came across a building which we thought at the time was a mosque. When praying, I noticed that there were a number of very young children at the back, so I was curious to know who these children were. I came to find out these were deprived orphans, and the place we were praying at was an orphanage.

I wanted to know more about the children and how they lived While on a tour of the building, I saw with my own eyes how terrible their living conditions are. The kitchen was in a terrible state, and the heat was blazing. When I asked them to show me the bedrooms, I was told the place of sleep is the floor in any space, the same place they sleep, pray, learn, and live. I wanted to learn more, so I spent much time visiting the orphanage. They didn't have any cash to keep the institution running, and seeing their deplorable living conditions melted my heart, so I decided to start a charity to support orphans around the world, starting with these children.

Alhamdulillah, As soon as our charity registered, we traveled to India to the orphanage again in May 2023 after gathering enough money during Ramadan 2023 to cover all 90 orphans' basic needs for the entire year.

In Islam, caring for an orphan is highly regarded as an act of charity. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encouraged Muslims to care for orphans and take care of their needs. The Quran also emphasizes the importance of taking care of those who are less fortunate, including orphans.

Sadly, there are still many orphans around the world who lack these necessities, and it is our duty as Muslims to help them. One way to do so is by donating to orphanages, where these children can receive the care and support they need.

Donating to an orphanage is an act of worship that has numerous benefits. Firstly, it is fulfilling an obligation set forth by Allah and our beloved Prophet . Secondly, donating to an orphanage is a form of sadaqah, which is a highly regarded act of charity in Islam. Sadaqah can help us earn Allah's blessings, forgiveness, and mercy.

Moreover, donating to an orphanage can also have a positive impact on society. When we work towards the betterment of the community, we are promoting social justice and strengthening our relationships with one another. By giving to an orphanage, we are also setting an excellent example for others to follow.

The Holy Quran states: “And whatever you spend of good, it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged."

Our donations may seem small, but they have the potential to make a big impact on the lives of orphans. It is also important to remember that Allah rewards us for our intention and our effort, even if we can not donate large amounts.

In conclusion, orphans are in dire need of our support and care. By donating to an orphanage, we are fulfilling our duty as Muslims and earning the pleasure of Allah. Let us remember the teachings of our Prophet.

May Allah bless us with the means to help those in need, ameen.

Who We Are

Small Change, Big Difference

Part of this is working hard to ensure the solutions we provide our orphans and widows are sustainable.

Grateful Giving Charity is a group of compassionate, honest, and hard-working humanitarians. We believe that everyone - no matter their race or gender - deserves a chance at a happy, fulfilling life.

We’re a UK based organisation, supporting and caring for over 4,000 orphans and their families in 13 countries including Somalia, Mali, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Palestine. Since our establishment in 2023, we have supported those who struggle to survive and make a living for themselves. Your donations ensure we can provide long-term, sustainable solutions to the most vulnerable of our society. Our teams are working in the areas worst affected by poverty offering; regular food parcels, funding access to education and essential medical care and funding supportive and caring homes for orphans through our Orphans Village project and Global Orphan Care.

We are dedicated to providing long-term, consistent support to orphan children and their families in need. Our teams are here to ensure the children in our care will grow and develop in their confidence over time and have a chance for a better and brighter future.

As one of the first charities in the world dedicated to caring for orphans and providing child sponsorship, our work has made a difference to young lives that may have been lost. We work with some of the poorest countries in the world and provide for the innocent lives caught up in conflicts that bring war and fear to their hometowns.

As one of the only dedicated orphan charities in the UK, we are working towards creating a better world, not just for our orphans, but for everyone.

  • Support orphans in their personal development, helping them learn new skills and improve their professional prospects for the future.
  • Provide relief from hunger and the stress that comes with it, enabling recent widows to focus on finding income to support their families.
  • Help existing orphanage owners through grants to improve the standard of accommodation and living for the orphans in their care.

Our core mission is to work towards a world where everyone gets the help and respect they deserve. From the orphan children who are neglected.

Our Vision

We work to make immediate and lasting improvements to the lives of people affected by poverty, war and disaster and who have no one else to turn to.

To create a world of harmony where people of all backgrounds can appreciate life with good health, education, and a livelihood.

Our motto is “Bringing Hope to Life” to raise the aspirations and hope of the poor and disadvantaged and to transform their lives for the better. Inspired by the spirit of selflessness and caring for humanity without discrimination, we have aimed to reach out to those communities that find it most difficult to receive help, and are most vulnerable to extremism, neglect and exclusion in a non-political, non-sectarian, non-religious, and non-exclusionary manner.
